With six rounds to an episode, the Battle Rounds pit singers from each team against each other. Winners advance to "The Battles, Round 2" (previously the "Knockout Rounds") while losers are either stolen by another coach or eliminated completely.

Team Pharrell Williams opened up the night's competition with a face off between Elyjuh René and Maiya Sykes, which René won with a performance of If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys. Sykes was ultimately sent packing when she failed to make the cut with another coach. Later, Team Pharrell managed to retain Luke Wade but lost Griffin to Team Blake Shelton.

Coach Gwen Stefani also had four contestants on the chopping block on Monday, and the pop artist decided to keep Sugar Jones for her performance of Destiny's Child's Survivor and Taylor John Williams for his rendition of Jolene. In exchange, Stefani lost Amanda Lee Peers and Jean Kelley, the latter of whom was swept up by Adam Levine.

Meanwhile, Team Adam lost Jonathan Wyndham in order to save Chris Jamison while Shelton gave up Craig Wayne Boyd for James David Carter. Stefani then picked up Boyd.
