Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will step up to host their seventh straight CMA Awards this fall and while they may be considered old pros by now, it will be Underwood's first-time hosting as an expecting mother.

Recently the pair sat down to discuss their hosting gig with USA Today (featured below), and while neither mentioned Underwood's baby bump, they did talk a little about how they intend to approach the award show.

"I don't ever feel like our roles were something we kind of sat down and were like, 'who do we want to be on the CMAs?'" explained Underwood. "I mean I definitely feel like it's a lot of who we are naturally."

"Obviously, I'm more of the straitlaced kind of person who will keep us moving," she added, "He's [Paisley] the ad-libber of the two of us for sure."

While Underwood may see herself as the more formal host at the CMA Awards, Paisley did credit the Something In The Water singer with having incredible poise.

"You're great though," he insisted. "I mean, I've never seen anyone land on their feet like she does. You just don't, it's impossible for you to look awkward in my opinion."

At this compliment, Underwood laughed. "Well that's good," she mumbled, "'cause I feel awkward most of the time."

On Thursday CMA Head Writer David Wild told The Tennessean that Underwood's pregnancy is a blessing for the writers' room."Carrie once again provided a huge spark for us by getting knocked up. She gave us the greatest baby gift of all and… so I think [the writing] will be a balance of how much we want to go there versus what she'll put up with."

At least a few jokes during the show will be aimed at the pregnant superstar, though Paisley noted there's a certain tone they like to keep to in conducting themselves both as hosts and as performers.

"There's a fine line between wincing," said Paisley, "And sort of enjoying the tension."

The 48th Annual CMA Awards will air live on ABC Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

Underwood announced her pregnancy back in September and will probably share the gender of the child when she finds out, though singer and NHL husband Mike Fisher have decided to keep the due date to themselves.
