One of the producers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has revealed what the origins for Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) will be in the 2016 movie.

Ben Affleck's Batman 'Towers Over' Henry Cavill's Superman

DC may be going with the New 52 version of Wonder Woman for the upcoming Batman v Superman blockbuster based on producer Charles Roven's recent comments.

Speaking with IGN, he answered a question about the other superheroes (other than Batman and Superman) that are to be featured in the movie.

Ben Affleck Could Be A 'Step Ahead' Of Christian Bale

"Wonder Woman is in it, we know that. She has powers, she's a goddess, right?" Roven said. "She's a half - she is a demigod. Her father was Zeus."

While she had previously been known as a Amazonian warrior, the 2011 New 52 comics introduced Wonder Woman as a demigod, the daughter of Greek god Zeus and Queen Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons.

It remains to be seen if Wonder Woman's past will be properly delved into in Batman v Superman, but it can only be assumed that Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman's (Henry Cavill) arc will serve as the primary storyline.

Affleck, Cavill and Gadot are leading an all star cast that also includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth.

Jason Momoa is also more or less confirmed to be in the film as Aquaman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
