Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon has reflected back on an unfortunate incident when she was arrested for disorderly conduct in April 2013.

This moment was a big deal considering that Witherspoon has a slim to none record of creating scandal in the entertainment industry. But on Monday, Huffington Post published some comments from the actress during a press conference at the BFI London Film Festival to promote her latest film Wild where her arest was brought up.

Witherspoon revealed that obviously there's nothing that can be done about it now and that the media tends to portray people in a certain light, which can cause a shock to the public if that person makes a mistake.

"I thought it was a moment where people realized that I wasn't exactly what they thought I was," she explained. "I guess maybe we all like to define people by the way the media presents them, and I think that I showed I have a complexity that people didn't know about. It's part of human nature. I made a mistake. We all make mistakes. The best you can do is say sorry and learn from it and move on."

The actress also explained what happened on Good Morning America where she admitted that her behavior was pretty out of order with the police officer who arrested her.

"I said all kinds of crazy things," she said. "I told him I was pregnant. I'm not pregnant! I said crazy things. You only hear me laughing because I had no idea what I was talking about and I am so sorry. I was so disrespectful to him. I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better."
