Hallmark's 1983 iconic animated character Rainbow Brite is getting a reboot this year and while the show will be an update from the original, it will include the talent of 1980s teen superstar Molly Ringwald.

"With Rainbow Brite, we believe we have created something that captures the essence of the original series, but with a version that resonates today," explained Feeln On Demand's head of entertainment Iris Ichishita on Today. "We hope the audience will react with 'oh my bows!" just like us."

Originally designed as an outlet for toy sales by Hallmark, the series quickly gained popularity. The animated program ran from 1984-1986 and will be receiving some updates in terms of animation when it returns this follow.

Rainbow Brite follows the story of Brite and her friends in a colorful, creative world as they work to keep the land safe from dark forces. The reboot will be featuring all new actors to voice these well-known characters, including Molly Ringwald (Pretty In Pink) as an antagonist called The Dark Princess, with singer and Young And Hungry star Emily Osment (Hannah Montana) in the title role of Rainbow Brite.

"Being cast as the voice of Rainbow Brite for the relaunch of this iconic show is truly an honor," Osment told Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday. "I look forward to connecting with the audience, old and new, and going on this exciting adventure together."

Rainbow Brite will premiere with three new episodes per week on Feeln.com on Nov. 6, 2014.
