Tim McGraw and his fellow country artist wife Faith Hill have had quite a bit of success this year with their duet Meanwhile Back At Mama's off McGraw's September album Sundown Heaven Town. Even with the acclaim, however, the Shotgun Rider singer insists that he'd prefer not to pick a "single" at all.

"If I had my way, it'd be one of those albums that you could turn it and just say, there's not a single. Every station could play whatever song they want," explained McGraw in an interview with KTIC Radio on Tuesday. "I wish there was a way to do that, but I know you have to have a focus and have to pick a song."

He may have been reluctant to choose at all, but the singer did admit that not every track on the album lives up to the commercial standards of a "single" in country music. Sometimes songs serve a different purpose.

"I always know that there are songs that are a little more artistic or other songs that are more not really radio," he admitted, "but just more for reflection and for listening and for just sort of creating a part of the body of an album."

Fans will get a chance to listen to McGraw perform one of the songs off Sundown Heaven Town when he appears at the CMA Awards next month. He might even elect to go with a number that hasn't aired on the radio to change things up a bit.

The 48th Annual CMA Awards will air live on ABC Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
