After months of rumors, "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Phaedra Parks confirmed that she and Apollo Nida are getting a divorce on "Ellen." Currently, her ex is serving an 8-year term in jail for bank and wire fraud but the demise of their marriage has been a topic of discussion during the last two seasons of their hit Bravo show. Now, for the first time in public, Parks is giving her side of the story.

Phaedra Hires an Attorney to 'Amicably End' Marriage to Apollo Nida

She revealed to Ellen that she had no idea what Apollo was up to until he called her to discuss "rumors" that he said, at the time, were not true. "I was working, I just got my fifth college degree... I have two very small children... And so, I didn't have any idea that any of this was going on until he called me and said, 'Hey, I've been arrested and I'm having this problem, but it's not true."

One of parks several degrees is in law, so she said that she went out of her way to get him "the best attorneys [and] investigators," but things did not work out they way she thought they would. Phaedra thought that Apollo "changed" after his first bid in prison that happened shortly before the two got married. Still, Ellen suggested that the fact that he was an ex-con should have been a red flag.

Now, she has to raise her sons on her own without their father. "My heart aches for my two sons because they are the heart and soul of who I am and that's the best thing we ever did together," Parks said of her adorable kids Ayden and Dylan.

Finally, when asked about she decided to go through with a divorce, she said, "I have made that decision." She also denied any rumors of an affair with a man named Chocolate, as we saw in the preview, and thinks "it's totally absurd," though she "loves a Snicker bar every once in a while."
