Brad Pitt is more like his new character, Sgt. Don Collier aka Wardaddy, than people may realize. In his upcoming highly anticipated film "Fury," the 50-year-old dad plays the leader of an American tank crew in World War II. The film is a raw look at the fight Americans had to go through when they were up against Germany.

Though in this film, Pitt is fighting with ammo on a larger scale, in real life, Angelina Jolie's husband has been a gun enthusiast since he was a child.

In a new interview with The Independent, the actor revealed that he's owned a gun since he was a mere 5 years old. "There's a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors' weapons... My brother got my dad's. I got my grandfather's shotgun when I was in kindergarten."

Angelina Jolies' New Gift From Brad Would Make Any Woman Happy

Gradually, his young ownership grew from an owning an air gun at 5 to firing his first handgun at 8. Still, in the area he grew up, he was not the only one. In fact, his lineage had a powerful bond with the controversial pastime and their own views on what it meant to handle one.

"The positive is that my father instilled in me a profound and deep respect for the weapon," he added.

Now that guns have become the topic of international and national debate, as school-shootings and anonymous killings become more rampant, it is safe to assume that Pitt may not pass on his love for guns to his young children with Jolie. The generational gap, and what is acceptable within it, creates a new, more complex conversation on what having and owning a gun means.

Still, fans love the longtime hunk for his superb acting skills and his gorgeous face. To see both in action, head out to see "Fury" in theaters on Friday, Oct. 17.
