Despite previously turning down a role in the first season of FX's American Horror Story, Neil Patrick Harris may be appearing in one of the final episodes of its current season, Freak Show.

Harris revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly that he and his husband David Burtka were sought after to play a couple who was murdered in the haunted house in American Horror Story: Murder House. As some fans know, the roles eventually went to Zachary Quinto and Teddy Sears.

He said that he turned down the role because he and Burtka had just played a pretend couple in Harold and Kumar Go to Christmas Town where they fought with each other, and he didn't want them to be known for fighting so much.

American Horror Story Season 5 Could Be About Aliens, According To Freak Show Clues

Flash forward to Freak Show and Harris appears to be close to signing a deal to guest star this season. He may be playing some sort of magician in one of the later episodes of the season, according to show co-creator Ryan Murphy.

"Yeah I spoke to Neil last week. He sort of had an idea of what he wanted to do, and I had an idea that he liked," Murphy revealed last week to EW. "So I'm going to call him next week. If I can make it work, it will be something that shoots at the end. He's very interested in the show and obviously Neil is a magician and likes all that magic stuff. So he's fascinated with that. We're trying to make it work. I'm optimistic."

If Harris were to sign on for a part in this season it would easily make it this most star-studded season in AHS history. He would be joining a main cast that includes Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts and Michael Chiklis, with guest stars that include Patti LaBelle, Matt Bomer and Wes Bentley.

American Horror Story: Freak Show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
