More than a week after Misty Upham was reported missing, a spokeswoman for the actress confirmed that her body has been found.

A close family friend, Tracy Rector, told The Hollywood Reporter that her father indentified Upham to authorities.

"We waited at the site where the team found the body," the Seattle-based filmmaker said. "It took about five-and-a-half hours to confirm. Then we gathered around her body to say prayers and now we're all gathered at the church."

The Native-American actress, who is recognized for her roles in Frozen River and August: Osage County, was last seen on Oct. 5 departing from her sister's apartment in Muckleshoot, Wash. Police reportedly responded to a suicide call from her sister's apartment that day, but the actress wasn't there when the officers showed up.

Her father, Charles Upham, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter at the time and expressed fear over his daughter's whereabouts. He revealed that the Django Unchained actress was bipolar and used to express suicidal thoughts, "but she never went through with it."

"She had recently changed her medication, so she was sort of having erratic behavior," he said. "She told me and her mom that we didn't have to worry about her any more. ... I thought it sounded suicidal myself, so I called the police. She's always been a suicidal person."

He also explained that the family moved from Los Angeles to Seattle in June so he could be treated in rehab after having a stroke. Misty visited a psychiatrist in Los Angeles but the family was unable to find one when they relocated.

"I think that she is either in a place where she can't get help - maybe she fell down and broke her leg and something, or she got in with the wrong crowd," he said. "I don't think she would have taken her own life. I don't want to think she is dead."

Rector also agreed with Mr. Upham's opinion saying, "The family has stated that, after seeing the body, they still do not feel that Misty Upham committed suicide."
