In a recent interview, James Wan, who directed the first two chapters in the Insidious series, dished about what fans can expect from the third in the franchise.

Insidious 3 To Be "Special," Like A "Specter Of The Further"?

Speaking to IGN, on the occasion of his movie Saw's tenth anniversary, the director said that Insidious 3 is one to look forward to. He also spoke about passing the baton to Leigh Whannell, who will be making his directing debut with the movie, and had collborated with Wan on the first two in the series as a writer. Wan was busy directing his first big budget movie with Fast and Furious 7, but stated that he trusted Whanell with the Insidious franchise.

"Well, it was a lot easier for me to walk away from it, because once again, I feel like Leigh is there to look after it," he said. "I really trust him as a creative person -- not just as an actor or a writer or a director -- I really believe him as a creative person. I think, I know, I've seen what he has done, and he's basically taken the world that I've created, and he's kept it in the same universe, but he's also put his own stamp on it too. So I'm very proud of what he has done with Insidious 3, and I think the fans will love the continuation that Leigh is taking with it. So I think Leigh was the natural person to take on the franchise, and I'm very glad that it's him as opposed to someone else."
