All this blood could be tied to the big action sequence the series prepped for on Saturday, which included half a dozen stunt performers.

This intense action sequence, however, might not be seen until the end the second episode of the season, as director James Hawes completed production for the fist installment on Monday.

Hawes has declared the season off to a good start, with some great elements built into the premiere.

Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for its second season in 2015.
