It appears that there may have been some confusion on Jillian Michael's recent interview where she discussed her sexuality.

Jillian Michaels Reveals Why Her Birthday 'Was Hard'

The trainer of The Biggest Loser recently told Health that being gay has always been difficult for her, which apparently caused members of the LGBT community to take this in the wrong way. This could be because of the way Michaels explained this by calling it "the 'gay' thing" and saying that it would be nice to be "normal."

But Michaels apologized over this comment with People in a story published on Saturday.

Her response was, "I am deeply disheartened and sorry to hear that members of the gay community have misunderstood the points I was trying to make about being 'out.'"

Michaels continued by saying why it can be hard for someone to be gay and how she was trying to spread a positive type of awareness.

"I attempted to shed light on how hard and scary it can be to be out. That gay families get attacked and even small daily interactions involve others being 'shocked and disturbed' by the gay lifestyle," she explained.

The trainer has two children with her partner, Heidi Rhoades, and mentioned that she is not afraid to be who she is in the closing of her statement.

"I was saying if along the way in my life that had been a choice I would have made it, but it's not who I am," Michaels said. "Gay is not a choice. If I was ashamed of who I am, I would be in the closet. Considering my family was on the cover of PEOPLE magazine, I think I'm pretty far from that."
