Speaking to Politico, Weiner stated that he did give the political drama a show, but felt it to be so removed from the reality he knew of the Hill that he just couldn't keep up with it. The former politician, who was mired in controversy, also dissed Homeland in the same vein.

"I watched the first season of House of Cards. It got so ridiculously implausible that I couldn't stick with it," he said. "Same way with Homeland, after the first season I just couldn't, you know."

In the interview Weiner also dished about how he spent his days now that he was away from the world of politics. He has been taking his role as dad pretty seriously and spends most of his time with his son.

The show is written by Beau Willimon and stars Spacey and Robin Wright, who portrays Claire Underwood on the show.

The third season of House of Cards will film in Maryland, where the first and second seasons were also shot. Initially, the continuation of filming of the third season of the Netflix series was fraught with troubles over the past few weeks as the producers weren't getting permission from the State of Maryland. But the issue was finally resolved on April 25.
