Gabby Douglas made headlines when she became the first African-American woman to win two gold medals during the same Olympic Games.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics she won a gold medal for the individual all-around and a second one for the team all-around matches.

She is also the first African-American woman in the history of the Olympics to win the individual all-around.

The 16-year-old has been receiving congratulations around the world on the internet, not just from her sports fans but from celebrities as well. 

Douglas told US Weekly exclusively how she felt about the response on Twitter: "I was so excited this morning," she said. "I woke up at like 6 am and I saw the tweets! It was awesome. I've been on a tweeting mission."

She also revealed that she couldn't help but check her computer to see how the world responded to her amazing feats online.

"I googled 'Gabby Douglas,' and all these things popped up like 'Gabby Douglas makes history!' And 'She's the champion!' It was an amazing feeling. I was looking at all the pictures of me on the podium."

Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Pink are just a few of the award-winning recording artists to share how proud they are of Douglas. Hollywood stars who took to Twitter include Elizabeth Banks and Samuel L. Jackson.

Beyonce posted a short open letter to the Olympic gymnast on her website. The "Love on Top" singer has expressed sentiments online to other famous stars including Frank Ocean and First Lady Michelle Obama.

President Obama revealed he was her biggest fan when he tweeted how proud he is of her accomplishments.
