Mad Men revolutionized television on AMC when it captured the hearts of critics and audiences alike seven years ago, but as the series draws to a close creator Matthew Weiner insists that the end will in fact be the end.

Weiner revealed in an interview with NY Daily News on Wednesday that there won't be a movie adaptation for Mad Men somewhere in the future.

"This is it," he explained. "We have 92 hours of this. It's a lot more than a lot of even other shows. We had seven years of time passing and actually eight if you count the pilot."

Having written the pilot nearly 14 years ago, Weiner is glad that he's been able to end the series in his own way. "Sometimes they just call you and say 'That was your last episode.' It happens 90 percent of the time," he admitted, but for Mad Men he was able to developed the farewell season he wanted.

Now that production for the drama is completed, Weiner has quite a bit a time on his hands, though he'd have no trouble getting a new project off the ground if he felt so inclined. For now he is content to making sure his kids get to school on time and hanging out in a bathrobe, taking things easy.

Mad Men returns to AMC for the remainder of its seventh and final season in early 2015.
