American Horror Story: Freak Show star Sarah Paulson has admitted that she sometimes feels like her conjoined twin characters Dot and Bette in her daily life.

One 'AHS: Freak Show' Character Has A Particularly Large Feature

Paulson recently spoke with Vulture about the themes of Freak Show and why she likes that it is darker than the previously season, Coven.

"It's about the idea of feeling totally cast aside," she says. "Me, I feel that way every day. I feel that way right now! I mean, I'm joking, but only sort of. I've never been one of those people who has a very healthy sense of themselves. I suffer from the sense that everything good in my life is about to go away."

Paulson is performing as both Dot and Bette, which essentially means she must film for twice as long. She admitted that her costars sometimes get confused about which "head" they are supposed to be talking to, particularly Jessica Lange, who plays Elsa Mars.

"In the beginning, Jessica would get so confused," she said. "She was always cursing: 'I don't even know who the f- I'm looking at!'." She added that she has started pointing to the head the other actor should be looking at while filming.

Wednesday night's episode of Freak Show feature Dot and Bette confronting the idea of separating, physically. It remains to be seen if one of the twins will die while the other lives, or they manage to survive the whole season unscathed. However, this is American Horror Story so it's even more likely that they both die by the end.

American Horror Story: Freak Show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
