The relationship between Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) on ABC's Once Upon a Time continues to be complicated as their love triangle with Marian (Christie Laing) deepens.

Parrilla spoke with TVLine recently about the Regina-Robin Hood relationship and her character's conflicted feelings about how much he loves her.

"It complicates everything," Parrilla explained. "It's easy if he says, 'I'm an honorable man. I have to stay with my wife.' As hard as that is to hear, it's also what she admires about him. But when he says, 'I love you and I know I should be doing the right thing but my heart lies elsewhere,' even though Mary Margaret and Henry say, 'This is something to celebrate,' Regina doesn't see it that way. She finds it harder to walk away from him knowing what he feels about her."

Regina Is 'Affected' By 'Frozen' Arc Despite Being Given Other Side Plots

Regina was devastated upon seeing that Emma (Jennifer Morrison) had inadvertently brought Marian back from the past, at which point she reunited with husband Robin Hood.

As Morrison previously previewed, the next episode of Once Upon a Time will see Emma trying to regain the trust she has lost in Regina.

"You're going to see Emma really fight to prove to Regina that she wants to be a friend, that she wants to have a good relationship with her," Morrison said.

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
