The villainous Gemma (Katey Sagal) on FX's Sons of Anarchy is almost beyond salvation at this point in the series, and even Sagal agrees.

Gemma's covering up of her murdering Tara (Maggie Siff) has caused the deaths of numerous people at this point as she tries to protect herself and her family. Sagal recently spoke with TVGuide.com about the possibility of a happy ending for Gemma, with the actress essentially saying that the end of her arc won't be anything but tragic.

"I don't think there is any relief for Gemma, dead or alive," Sagal admitted. "[She] is so much about her family and this life, and that's just shredding. To think of her living without [that family] or being dead, they both seem the same. There is no redemption for Gemma."

While Sagal does not necessarily defend Gemma's actions, she recently discussed the troubled character with TVLine, noting that she is not necessarily a psychopath.

"She feels very sorry and sad that that happened. But at the same time, she has rationalized to herself why it's good to throw somebody else under the bus and not tell the truth," Sagal explained.

The actress promises the at the final arc of the series will be a good one as Jax (Charlie Hunnam) almost inevitably finds out about her killing his wife. Discussing this plot line she admitted that she knows "a lot of answers to that, and I'm not going to tell you. [Laughs] Except that it will not disappoint. Keep watching."

Sons of Anarchy airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
