Nick Cannon has opened up on his separation from Mariah Carey where he cleared up something that's actually not true.

Nick Cannon 'Handles The Pressure?'

On Thursday, E! News posted a clip from Cannon's interview on The Meredith Vieira Show where he was asked what the hardest thing is about his split with the singer.

"It's one of those things, being someone who is in the public eye, you never want to deal with your personal life in the public eye- but we have to," the America's Got Talent host said. "The media, they can say whatever they want to say and obviously, because you are not giving them anything, so they kind of create all these stories and make it way worse than it actually is."

The TV icon was then asked if there are any rumors going on that aren't true. As it turns out, there was a report that the couple are going through a custody battle with their dogs, which seemed pretty silly to Cannon.

"It's the Jack Russell puppy dispute," he said. "They just make up all of these things. It's truly just staying focused on family and what's right and getting through these times and doing what's right for the kids, so that's just where we are."

While the dogs may not be ones to focus on, the couple's four-year-old twins might be. But Cannon said that things haven't changed for them.

"They love mommy, they love daddy," he said. "Being the fact our situation, we have always been people who have been on the go coming and going, their life hasn't changed one bit. We spend holidays together, we do everything that we are supposed to do together as a family."
