While Marvel hasn't revealed their map for their upcoming movies yet like DC did, it would seem that the third venture for one of their main characters would be coming sooner rather than later, but according to one star, that may not be the case.

Natalie Portman To Be Done After 'Avengers 2' With Marvel?

Speaking with Buzzfeed on Monday about Avengers: Age of Ultron, Chris Hemsworth spoke briefly about where Thor 3 stood and said that right now, it may be awhile until we see the God of Thunder return to Asgard.

When Hemsworth was talking about his upcoming schedule, he told Buzzfeed that his next major film "won't be Thor 3 - that will be the following year." The following year in the comment means that the movie won't land until 2017.

Thor To Join Iron Man In The Civil War & Defeat Captain America?

This makes sense and is what many have predicted for the third installment in the franchise, especially with the rising popularity of Hemsworth outside of Marvel and the fact that the studio is trying to work in a few new characters and are sidelining their other heroes for awhile.

It also makes sense that they would hold off on Thor for awhile as the studio is about to dive into the Civil War plot that the hero isn't that big a part of. As of now, the third Thor movie will most likely deal with Ragnarok, which will have him flying all over Asgard and space and not dealing with superhero registration on Earth (Asgard hasn't been recognized as a state yet).

Hemsworth will be busy soon with an adaptation of Steve Earle's novel I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive that he's also producing off the ground, his first outright comedy, a reboot of sorts of the National Lampoon's Vacation series, followed by a sequel to the 2012 Kristen Stewart vehicle Snow White and the Huntsman that will reportedly focus almost entirely on Hemsworth's Huntsman character.

Expect Thor 3 to come out at some point in between Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 or even beyond that.
