The 50-year-old actress ran to assist an extra who suffered from heat stroke on the set of her new movie Our Brand Is Crisis on Sunday. In photos published by TMZ, Bullock was seen fanning the woman and giving her water until the ambulance came. The extra was then taken to a nearby hospital.

According to the website, the extras are required to wear warm clothing during filming but the heat in New Orleans was unbearable that day. Actor Billy Bob Thornton was also spotted on set, but he didn't seem to be much involved.

Our Brand Is Crisis follows American consultants who attempt to get an unfavorable president re-elected in Bolivia. It's an adaptation of David Gordon Green's documentary of the same name released in 2005. Bullock stars as one of the consultants while Thornton plays her opponent.

Bullock is known to be quite generous. For example, the Oscar winner donated $1 million to the American Red Cross in 2011 to help victims of an earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

"This contribution is vitally important as the Red Cross works to provide critical assistance and essential relief items in this time of urgent need for so many people in Japan," the relief organization told CNN at the time.

The year before, Bullock also gave the same amount to aid earthquake victims in Haiti.
