It looks as though Aaron Hernandez's defense team might have to take one step back for now. A judge in his Odin Lloyd case has rejected their request to change venues. They are arguing all the media coverage that they have been receiving has "poisoned" the jury pool in Bristol County.

Former NFL Player's Second Murder Trial Set For May 2015

Former New England Patriots tight end has been indicted on a perjury charge in connection with the killing of Lloyd. His body was found about a mile away from Hernandez's home back in 2013.

According to ESPN on Thursday, Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh denied the motion to change the venue, stating that his defense team have not shown any prejudgment in the case and that as of right now, more than 1,000 people will be summoned before picking a jury.

Setback For Aaron Hernandez As Judge Keeps His Cell Phone In Shocking Trial

Hernandez was let go from his NFL team after being charged with Lloyd's death in 2013. "I'm coming to grab that tonight," Hernandez texted reportedly to Lloyd, according to the court records, via the Boston Globe "u gon b around I need dat and we could step for a little again."

Judge Garsh had earlier denied Hernandez's motion to toss key evidence from the athlete's cell phone. She wrote "that Hernandez's lawyers voluntarily turned over the phone to State Police on the evening of June 18, 2013, one day after the killing of Lloyd of Dorchester" in her 22-page ruling.
