There's a new rumor going around with R&B stars Rihanna and Drake saying that there might be a real reason why the "Diamonds" singer chose to date the rapper- and it might have to do with Chris Brown.

Did Drake Plead With Rihanna To Take Him Back?

On Friday, Hollywood Life reported that the reason why Rihanna decided to have a relationship with Drake was apparently just to hurt her ex. This is something that Brown gave the impression on during his interview with Hot 97, posted in another Hollywood Life story. When he was asked if Rihanna dated Drake "on purpose," Brown responded with, "In a way I do."

Even though this is coming from Brown's perspective, it turns out that that might be true for Rihanna, according to an insider. While she may have dated Drake just to get back at her ex-boyfriend, she also probably had legit feelings there too.

Chris Brown Gives Drake Advice After Alleged Stripper Scandal?

"She would never say that [she dated Drake just to annoy Chris], and it's probably a little bit of both," the source said. "Drake's sexy. He's smooth. He was much more of a man than Chris and he talked to her and treated her like she was the only one who mattered."

It was also mentioned that the "We Found Love" singer could have tried having a relationship with someone else, but the rapper may have just been a convenient revenge.

"She could have fooled around with someone outside of the music industry," the insider said. "She knew Chris and Drake at the time weren't cool most of the time, so she knew what she was doing and didn't care."
