According to McGraw, life and art certainly imitate one another in his latest duet with Hill, Meanwhile Back at Mama's off his Sundown Heaven Town album.

"That's what my home is for me," the singer told the Academy of Country Music's Tempo this week. "We live such a normal life when we're at home."

McGraw has always valued and appreciated his success with country music, but as devoted as he is to his music it is his wife and their three daughters for whom he lives and breathes.

"I love playing live and playing concerts and doing the stuff that I do," explained McGraw, "but everything I do is driven to get me home, to get me back to where I'm comfortable and to get me back into my world with my kids going to the football games on Friday nights and picking kids up and dropping them off and going to the grocery story. Those sort of things."

McGraw and Hill shot the music video for Meanwhile Back At Mama's at their real-life Tennessee home, which gave them the opportunity to work while at the same time relaxing in an atmosphere they both treasure.

"That's where you catch your breath. That's where you recharge your batteries," added McGraw. "That's where you get your strength to go slay the dragons, I guess."

Even with all his fame, McGraw says that it's not his music that he's known for over at the local grocery story. "We are Gracie and Maggie and Audrey's parents really when we're here," he admitted. "They're way more famous than we are in this area."

This week McGraw will be performing in Nashville for the ACM Awards, where he is also nominated.

The 48th Annual ACM Awards will air live on ABC Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m.
