Gabrielle Douglas made a big mistake on the women's uneven bars final Monday that sent her to 8th place out of 8 competitors.

Douglas went over on a swing forcing her to change her uneven bars routine (See Below). She ended with a score of 14,900. Russia's Aliya Mustafina took the gold medal with a score of 16.133.

"I made a little mistake and I paid for it," Douglas told The Associated Press. "You get toward the end of the Olympics and you get kind of drained."

The cameras at the venue captured the reaction of Douglas' teammates apparently in shock after she made the mistake.

China's Kexin He won the silver medal with a score of 15.933 and British gymnast Elizabeth Tweedle won bronze with a score of 15.916.

It remains to be seen if Douglas' error will have any effect on her image at the London Olympic Games 2012. The gymnast dubbed the "Flying Squirrel" has earned great attention after she won the gold medal on the all-round event, the most coveted in gymnastics.

Douglas' presence on social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter has surged since her gold medal win and it is being reported that back in the United States, millions in sponsorships and endorsements await her, according to Reuters.
