A second look at the Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B trailer portrays one of the most talked about portions of the film - her connection with Ignition singer R. Kelly.

Aaliyah's Brother, Rashad Houghton, Might Have Slammed Alexandra Shipp On Twitter 'She Can't Act'

In the trailer, Aaliyah (played by Alexandra Shipp) meets up with R. Kelly (Clé Bennett) in the studio in the early stages of her career. She is still nervous as he asks if she has settled in yet.

He doesn't waste time in asking her if she's ready to "change the game," letting her know that there is no need for her to be shy around him.

"Stop thinking you still gotta prove something to me. You're here cause you earned it. You did your thing on the mic. The pressure's on me now. Now I gotta deliver. All you gotta do is, you do what it is you do baby."

He then tells her that he is going to add a little flair to her sound.

"I'm gonna give that soft voice of yours an edge. I'm gonna get you to sound like mine. You know, street?"

The two then high-five before getting to work.

Rumor has it that Aaliyah was 15 years old when she tied the knot with R. Kelly, who was in his late twenties at the time. It is not clear how deep into their personal relationship they will go. But it looks like it will show how much of a factor R. Kelly played in setting off Aaliyah's singing career. He produced her debut project Age Ain't Nothing But A Number, that included the hits Back & Forth and At Your Best (You Are Love).
