According to Miranda Lambert, the recent spark in wins for women at the CMA Awards last week just might mean a "girl" phase is coming up for country music.

Why Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert Love Meghan Trainor

"I feel like everything goes through phases," the singer explained to CMT after scoring four trophies at the 48th Annual CMA Awards on Wednesday. "It was a group phase, or then girls were on top, and then guys took over. I definitely feel like girls have a lot to say. If you're married, you know that."

Lambert argued that Kasey Musgraves win for Song of the Year with Follow Your Arrow was a sign of things to come.

"I feel like Kasey won song of the year, and girls were represented really well tonight," continued Lambert. "I know that country music appreciates women, and I have to say they always have. And so it's about to come back to the forefront."

Not only is Lambert happy to see the change, she's also thrilled to be a part of it.

"I really love my job," added the Somethin' Bad singer. "And I love music. And I love country music."

Lambert's husband and fellow country artist Blake Shelton was equally thankful for his place in the industry on Wednesday. After the Neon Light singer won Male Vocalist Of The Year at the CMA Awards, he spoke to CMT about what it's like to be honored like that during this stage of his life.

"I can't stress enough how excited and surprised and shocked and overwhelmed I am that this is happening to me in my life in my late 30s," said Shelton. "I mean I've been doing this since my early 20s. The first CMAs I came to, I was probably 24 or 25 years old. And to know I'm still hanging around after all this time and still have a home here, it's hard to explain."

Shelton went on to call the present state of his career and home-life a "dream come true."

"For me and my family," he said of the CMA Awards. "This is maybe the biggest night of our lives."
