While Sony seems to be trying to do anything and everything to get interest back in the Spider-Man franchise, it seems like other fans have an idea on where the franchise should head as the studio squashes their big rumor from Tuesday.

One Random Character Could Be Getting A Solo Film Within Sony's 'Spider-Man' Universe

The Verge wrote an editorial on Tuesday outlining how they felt like Sony could fix Spider-Man and get the character back on track and that included focusing the story on something smaller.

According to the site, the reason why The Avengers and even Man of Steel in its best moments worked was because both films understood scale. Spider-Man, at his heart, is a small-town hero, and his best stories tend be focused largely on him, his relationships and his struggles.

Making him the heart of an expansive movie universe is wrongheaded, betrays the soul of the character, and makes it clear that Sony just wants the money.

This would make the film much more manageable as, like they said, Sony is unable to capture the scale that some of the other superhero movies have and focusing solely on the character of Spider-Man may help make the movies much more interesting.

As for the Aunt May spin-off, it seems like the studio is denying ever having discussions about that. Comic Book Resource reached them for comment on Tuesday and the studio stated that the report of a Spider-Man spinoff starring a young Aunt May is a "silly rumor" with "no validity whatsoever."

As of now, the next Spider-Man movie that is for sure is Sinister Six in 2016.
