Though playing a character in a TV show is obviously different from a real-life experience, Orange Is the New Black actress Laverne Cox has some words of encouragement for recently-sentenced reality star Teresa Giudice.

With Giudice about to start her 15-month prison sentence for fraud in January, Cox was asked at Glamour's Women of the Year Awards on Monday if she had any advice for the Real Housewives star.

"Well, I think the reality is that playing an inmate on television is very different than actually be incarcerated," Cox noted, as reported by Us Weekly on Tuesday. "I wish her the best and I know it can't be easy for her and her family."

It was previously revealed that Giudice would actually be serving time at the real-life prison Piper Kerman went to, which she documented in her Orange is the New Black memoir that inspired the Netflix series. The reality star will be heading to the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, CT in January.

Giudice is serving out her sentence first while her husband, Joe Giudice, will serve his sentence of 41 months after she is released. The pair have four daughters, Gia, 13, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 5.

Coincidentally, the character Cox plays on Orange Is the New Black, Sophia Burset, went to the fictional prison for credit card fraud.

Orange Is the New Black is set to return for Season 3 in mid-2015 on Netflix. The first two seasons are currently available in full on the streaming site.
