It seems like there will be a little more romance than the previous movies in the upcoming X-Men movie, but with a triangle being formed, who will get together and who will ultimately be left on the side?

With the recent news that X-Men: Apocalypse would focus on the relationship between Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique and Michael Fassbender's Magneto, it begged the question, what would happen to the established relationship between Mystique and Nicholas Hoult's Beast that was started during First Class?

It is interesting that they decided to scrap the whole romance as there weren't many, if any, signs of it in this year's Days of Future Past. But during the previous movie, it was one of the focal points of the entire film, which seems to be the direction they are going but with different characters.

Does that mean a love triangle is on the way though? It seems that way. While the recent report said that the romance would be between Mystique and Magneto, writer Simon Kinberg has previously said that they were going to focus more on the Mystique and Beast love story in the next movie.

While plans may have changed, they also may have changed to help enforce the switch from good to evil that Mystique is going through. While there was the choice at the end of First Class to join Magneto, it didn't necessarily carry the evil weight that carried over to the next movie.

With a love triangle in place, it forces her to choose between joining Beast, who is with Professor Xavier and the rest of the X-Men, or following the timeline that was established in the original trilogy and joining up with Magneto.

While Days of Future Past wiped that timeline, it will be interesting what path they decide to take her since it is wide open again.
