It seems to be the thing to do in Marvel movies. Kill off a character that people care about and bring them back later on to calm everyone down. But could one of the biggest figures in the Marvel universe be killed off and brought back?

Who Is This Fiery Villain That Thor Is Going To Face In His Third Movie?

With Ragnarok coming to Asgard, there will be a lot of destruction that Thor will have to face, both by his hand or by the hand of Loki and possibly Surtur. But what will happen in the end for the God of Thunder and what does it mean moving forward in the Marvel cinematic universe.

Right now, Thor doesn't know what has happened to his father, Odin, as he believes the Allfather is still on the throne when it actually is Loki in disguise. He will most likely realize this through a vision during Avengers: Age of Ultron and head back to Asgard to fix things. This will most likely end with the death of Odin early in the film and send Thor searching for his wisdom.

Is Idris Elba's 'Thor' Character Set To Perish In 'Ragnarok?'

By the end of the film, Thor will return to Asgard, which will be in bad conditions as Loki and Surtur are most likely causing mayhem while he was off on his search. After a giant battle, it could end with the defeat (and death) of Thor and possibly Surtur as Loki slinks off back to Thanos with the items he desires.

While Thor is dead, he won't technically be dead. While the movie may not dive into it, if it follows the comics, the hero will be stuck in a void between worlds and could be awakened by the time of Avengers: Infinity Wars Part 1, in which he makes his valiant return to the MCU.

This scenario would create one of the most tragic Marvel movies yet but also keep within the continuity of the cinematic universe's course to the third Avengers movie.
