Lifetime Networks, Wendy Williams, Alexandra Shipp and all parties involved in the making of the Aaliyah biopic have received major backlash on social media since the airing of "Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B" on Saturday, Nov. 15. According to Twitter and a record-breaking number of Instagram memes that surfaced over the weekend, rarely anyone walked away impressed with the film that Williams, especially, guaranteed would not be a bad product.

Wendy Williams on Aaliyah Biopic: "You'll Be Impressed"

Everyday on her live daytime program, "The Wendy Williams Show," the 50-year-old former radio host is known for giving her unfiltered, sometimes unnecessary, opinion on events in pop culture and celebrity lives. So, when her movie was rated as "one of the worst movies of all time" in Charlamagne Tha God's popular "Donkey of the Day" segment, and all over social media, fans expected her to have the same honest, unfiltered response. But, they got the opposite.

During the Nov. 17 hot topics, Wendy took to her purple chair and simply said of the movie, "I see my Aaliyah movie broke the Internet this weekend, everybody's got an opinion. Whether you loved or you hated it, you watched."

She continued, "It was the second highest-rated movie on all of cable, this year so far." Still, it is a bit odd of her to brush off the resounding, immense disapproval of the film. When things trend, Wendy and her team are the first to address it and share their opinion. Her audience loves her for her being the person who says what they think and depends on her to share it with her international audience.

The film trended on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram from Saturday night up until her live show started. In a way, she saved face by not stating her opinion of the backlash and therefore, didn't do her beloved job of spreading the juicy details of pop culture's hot topics. Her fans and watchers of the show were not pleased and took to Twitter to share their thoughts:
