The Librarians will introduce fans to four new employees of the Metropolitan Library, and each genius will have something very different to contribute to the team.

A continuation of TNT's Librarian trilogy, the upcoming series will reintroduce viewers to Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) who, along with his new guardian Eve Baird (Rebecca Romijn), will rescue the last three potential librarians from certain death at the hands of the Scorpion Brotherhood.

Suddenly shanghaied into working for the secret organization, Jake Stone (Christian Kane), Ezekiel Jones (John Kim) and Cassandra Cillian (Lindy Booth) will not be carbon copies of the reigning librarian.

"It's interesting because you want niche protection," explained executive producer John Rogers, according to The Examiner. "You want to make sure everyone can contribute but doesn't overlap, and so we looked at Noah [Wyle] and that character as he originally existed, was a polymath. We were like, 'Look, we can't have four polymaths. We can't have four people who are good at everything.'"

Instead, the writers wanted specific traits.

"We need a historian, we need a science and math and biology person and we need a tomb robber," Rogers said.

The results - Jake, an art historian; Ezekiel, the resident tech wizard; Cassandra, gifted with synesthesia; and Eve, the one who manages to protect them all.
