Netflix has officially resurrected the popular crime drama Longmire, which was cancelled by A&E earlier this year after three seasons.

'Longmire' Writer Dishes On Season 4

While producers had been negotiating the deal with Netflix for a number of weeks, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon that a contract had in fact been signed. According to Deadline, Season 4 will include 10 episodes that are set to begin in 2015.

Since Netflix already has the rights for the first three seasons, the new episodes will likely draw in both old and new fans. The series already has an incredibly loyal following, as was demonstrated online following the show's initial cancellation. Petitions and "Twitter Stampedes" were immediately designed to bring the beloved program back to life, and that kind of overwhelming commitment certainly appeared in the show's favor.

Lou Diamond Phillips Talks 'Longmire' Renewal

"When Warner Horizon Television came to us with the idea for a new season of Longmire, we were intrigued because the series is so unique, and consistently great," declared Netflix's VP of Original Content Cindy Holland. "We are thrilled to help continue Walt Longmire's story for his large and passionate following."

Cast and crew from the series, including actors Lou Diamond Phillips (Henry) and Louanne Stephens (Ruby), voiced their enthusiasm for the Netflix deal on Twitter Wednesday, many of them claiming that the fans were the ones who helped make it happen.

With production set to begin in March, Longmire will likely premiere its fourth season on Netflix during the second half of 2015.
