Whitney Houston would have turned 49 years old on August 9, a week before the release of her last movie "Sparkle."

Houston's daughter celebrated her late mother's birthday by getting matching memorial tattoos with her boyfriend Nick Gordon. She posted a photo of her and Gordon's wrists posed side by side with a tattoo of the singer's initials and 4 doves surrounding it.

"On the way with MYbooboo @nickdgordon :)heading2 #Inksomnia for our TATTSSS !this is for you mommy (: we love you, happybirthday OurladyXxo... You all will get2see! No worries :)we'll show you & so will our #Realityshow ! #TheHoustonChronicals !make sure you look out for it nxtyr!" the 19-year-old tweeted before she went to the tattoo parlor.

When the pair's tattoos were complete, she wrote: "Tat tat tatted YURP.. ;) now your truly ALWAYS with us mommy (: we love you @nickdgordon always&forever{<3}."

The Daily News reports that the couple went to Inksomnia Tattoo in Alpharetta, Georgia with a film crew. Brown has been filming her reality show "The Houston Chronicles" for the Lifetime network.

Gordon, 22, was raised by Houston and later adopted by her. Nick made headlines when photos surfaced of him and Bobbi Kristina proving that the former siblings are now in a romantic relationship. On Twitter she refers to him as "boo boo."

"Happy Birthday Mom You will be forever missed," he wrote of Houston on Twitter.

Houston plays a single mother of an aspiring singer Sparkle, played by Jordin Sparks, and her two sisters. Houston served as the executive producer for the Sony film. Critics have been commending her noteworthy performance when she sings the R.Kelly-penned song "His Eye is on the Sparrow."

"Sparkle" is Houston's first movie since "The Preacher's Wife" in 1996.

Jordin Sparks is the youngest winner of "American Idol." "Sparkle" is the acting rookie's film debut. Critics have been comparing the 22-year-old to her "American Idol" alumni Jennifer Hudson. Hudson starred in "Dreamgirls" and won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for the role.

"Sparkle" is directed by Salim Akil ("Jumping the Broom") and stars Derek Luke, Grammy winner Cee-Lo Green, Tika Sumpter ("Gossip Girl") and Omari Hardwick.

Whitney Houston passed away on Feb. 11 this year in a bathtub at a Beverly Hills hotel. Autopsy reports revealed that she died from heart disease and that she used several drugs including cocaine before her death.

There will be three books released in 2012 about Houston's life. The first book, titled "The Whitney I Knew," is written by Houston's friend, gospel singer BeBe Winans.

"Sparkle" will arrive in theaters nationwide on August 17.
