On Wednesday McGraw was confronted about whether his daughter intends to pursue a career in music, and while he does have his own thoughts on the matter he did remain supportive.

"I hope she has a doctorate in front of her name before she pursues a recording career," noted McGraw with a laugh during an interview with Extra's Tracey Edmonds.

"All my girls are just fantastic," added the Meanwhile Back At Mama's singer, who has three daughters with wife and fellow country artist Faith Hill. "They're all great girls and they can all sing and they're just all really smart and confident young ladies so I just want them to do whatever they feel like they want to do with their life."

McGraw did emphasize that he and his wife want their children to go to college, but that decision won't make or break their relationship with the girls. "I'd like for them to have a college education first," McGraw explained, "But we're going to support them whatever they decide to do."

When Edmonds asked if Audrey would ever go touring with her father professionally, McGraw laughed. "By the time she goes on tour hopefully I won't be on tour anymore," he insisted.

McGraw can next be seen on A Very Grammy Christmas, which will air on CBS Dec. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
