Fans of Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Wendy (Drea de Matteo) on FX's Sons of Anarchy might not get the happy ending they are hoping for, but that might be okay.

'Sons of Anarchy's Gemma Capable Of 'Killing Anybody' As Series Comes To An End

De Matteo spoke with TVLine recently about the ending of Sons of Anarchy, focusing on where Jax and Wendy will end up. Asked about her thoughts on whether they will get back together, de Matteo admitted that she doesn't find it likely, nor does she think it's the right ending for the motorcycle drama.

"I don't know if that's the right ending for a show of this nature and for a writer like Kurt [Sutter], who has always played against the Hollywood-generic-plot-point kind of thing," she said. "It could be something that people imagine happening after the ending, like how the Sopranos ending made people go, 'What the f--- happened here? Did they go on? Are they dead?' I think Wendy would love for them to end up together. But I don't think we're there yet."

'Sons of Anarchy': Nero & Jax Both Feel 'Guilty' About How They've Fathered Their Children

Based on de Matteo's comments, she may have possibly revealed that both Jax and Wendy manage to survive the series, with her remark about imagining them together after it is over. This is a feat unto itself given the number of characters, both major and minor, that have died over the course of the series.

It remains to be seen if Jax or Wendy will have a happy ending, but according to de Matteo, it should definitely be a fitting one.

Sons of Anarchy airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
