Timbaland spoke with The Breakfast Club Nov. 19 and said, "I just think it's tampered. You gotta ask questions."

He said that what makes the depiction of R. Kelly and Aaliyah's rumored marriage in the movie worse is that her father is not alive.

In the biopic, an actor portraying her father was seen going into a rage after the then 15-year-old Aaliyah came home and revealed she lied on her marriage license to tie the knot with R. Kelly. He was 28 years old at the time.

Timbaland then reprimanded the film for showing the ordeal.

"Uncle Mike passed away, rest in peace. That was my guy. He always looked at me as a son and told me certain things going on. You just don't show that without consulting the mother, Diane."

He added that he does speak with Aaliyah's mother "once in awhile."

Still, he did say there were positive aspects of the movie, despite all of the negativity that surrounds it.

"We don't talk about great music enough. I felt like, the good thing about that movie, it brought up awareness about what we have done and a feeling that we don't have today. It makes you realize today's music."

He also spoke on young singer's aspiring to be mimic Aaliyah's image. He simply said all he asks is that they give the More Than A Woman singer her credit.
