As one of the characters bid farewell to Downton Abbey, one of the actors admitted that he's a reason for that occurrence.

Thomas Will Have A 'Harrowing Storyline' On 'Downton Abbey' Season 5

For all the fans in the United States who have yet to see the fifth season ought to be aware of the spoilers that lie ahead.

On Monday, Radio Times brought up the fact that Lord Grantham's dog Isis was killed off during the fifth series, giving speculation on how this got brought up. Surprisingly enough, it was Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley) who actually came up with this idea when he suggested it to series creator Julian Fellowes.

"I suggested the storyline to Julian about a year ago," Bonneville said. "I said, 'I know we're always fairly fudgy about time in our show but even I can tell this dog who could have been three in series two is going to be getting on a bit now and maybe there's something in that storyline?'"

"So he said, 'Ah, I'll have to think about that,' and then there it was," the actor added.

There was apparently some gossip that the reason for the death of Isis was to avoid association with an Islamic extremist group that started making headlines this year. But Bonneville pointed out that that's not true at all.

"It shows a complete lack of knowledge about how TV shows are made," he said. "We didn't make it last week, we made it months and months and months ago."

Downton Abbey Season 5 will air in the United States on Sunday, January 4 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.
