Agent Abbott's past will come back to haunt him on The Mentalist.

Not much is known about the FBI agent outside his time with Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney), but season 7 will round out the character with a little bit of scandal. Fans should be ready to dive into this story line by episode 4, "A Hint of Yellow" (previously titled "Pink Rocks").

"There's a lot of character development with Abbott," Tunney explained. "His character gets really fleshed out. He's sort of involved in a pretty big scandal. It's a really big arc and we get to know who he is and his life and what his family's life is like."

Abbott's (Rockmond Dunbar) past transgressions will first come to the fore when his wife applies for a prestigious job in DC. However, it sounds like things will escalate when his old boss comes into town.

Played by the Good Wife's Dylan Baker, Special Agent Bill Peterson now works for the DEA and has quite a bit of dirty on his old coworker, according to Entertainment Weekly. It is unknown when Peterson will appear.
