On Wednesday Deadline revealed that Castle's Jon Lindstrom has also signed onto the popular crime drama, which could make him the last new name to emerge for this season.

Only two days earlier Deadline announced that Rachel McAdams (Mean Girls, A Most Wanted Man), rumored for months now to have been in talks for the series, has officially joined the show's star-studded cast. This made her the last of the big-name stars to ink a deal for the HBO series.

McAdams will play one of the show's three leading detectives alongside Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Saving Mr. Banks) and Taylor Kitsch (Wolverine, Lone Survivor).

According to Deadline McAdams, Farrell, Kitsch, Kelly Reilly (A Single Shot), and Vince Vaughn (Into The Wild) are the five official series regulars. The new season will consist of eight episodes, all penned by series creator Nic Pizzolatto, and take place in California following murder and corruption within the government. Vaughn is set to play a career criminal, with Reilly stepping in as his ambitious, former-actress wife.

While the show's first season aired early in 2014, the new episodes will be taking up True Blood's old summer slot after Game of Thrones.

True Detective is expected to return on HBO for its second season mid-2015.
