It is no secret Lifetime's Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B received lots of slander after it aired earlier this month, but before its debut, singer Teyana Taylor dished on why she decided not to be a part of the now infamous movie.

Taylor spoke with DJ Vlad of VLAD TV and said that she initially did try out for the part.

She admitted that once she received the script to audition, she had lots of questions that were not answered.

"Being that I'm an Aaliyah fan I was a little more difficult. I was like 'Well is the family involved?' I did the audition and I filmed myself, I didn't go in, and started asking a lot of questions. Once I found out that the family wasn't involved, I personally felt like it wasn't being done the right way. I kinda just didn't really want no parts in it."

While she decided not to send in her tape, a good friend of hers uploaded it without her knowledge on Instagram to display Taylor's talents when it comes to channelling the Try Again singer.

Taylor gushed about mimicking her dance skills and said, "She's that work. She's definitely dope. I got a lot of great feed back from my audition tape. I wasn't even expecting it. I was actually mad when my friend put it out. I don't like watching myself. It got great responses I was really surprised."
