Fans of FX's Sons of Anarchy are still reeling from the multitude of deaths that took place in the penultimate episode Tuesday night, and one of those deaths might weigh heavily on the series finale.

'Sons of Anarchy' Finale Won't Have 'A Dry Eye In The House'

MAJOR spoilers ahead for Sons of Anarchy:

She definitely made her mark on Sons of Anarchy and her presence will likely be felt in the finale. Gemma (Katey Sagal) was killed by her son Jax (Charlie Hunnam) at the end of Tuesday night's episode of Sons of Anarchy, leaving a huge main character out of the series finale.

But fans of the polarizing character shouldn't fret. She won't be forgotten.

"I think it's really satisfying," Sagal told TVGuide.com, talking about the finale. "It's beautiful. I was there on the last day, and I think it's beautiful."

Sagal also discussed that final scene between Gemma and Jax, with her looking out at the beautiful garden of flowers and him struggling to finally do the deed. The actress said that it was very difficult to film this scene.

"It was very emotional," she shared. "We would go in the house right before we walked out [into the garden] and both of us would break down crying. [We] had to hold on to each other, and then we'd go shoot the scene. We did that several times.

"We've all been in this happy place of denial that this wasn't really ending, while we've been doing the work this season. But now, there was no denial that this was ending. It was very emotional."

Sagal admitted that she does not think Gemma considered herself to be a bad person, though she had the ability to block out certain things in order to not get too bent out of shape about it.

"I think that she's done a lot of bad things in her life and she knows that," Sagal observed. "She's not stupid. She carried some guilt with the John Teller of it all for all those years, but she's very good at compartmentalizing and just not looking at it. But I think this all became so big for her she couldn't not look at it."

Ultimately, Gemma saw Jax shooting her as the "ultimate act of love," a reasoning that may only be understood by the members of SAMCRO.

Sons of Anarchy airs its series finale Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
