Warner Bros. and DC haven't even really entered the cinematic universe field yet, but they are already planning on a long future with their upcoming slate of films. Now is the studio adding a famous director to the fold to bring this film to life within the new universe?

Collider sat down with writer/director Guillermo Del Toro on Monday to talk about his recent FX series, The Strain, and he also spoke briefly on another project of his, Justice League Dark, and whether it could find its way into the shared universe that DC is working on right now compared to his solo Frankenstein picture with Universal.

"I haven't followed up with Frankenstein so I really have very little to add to that. Right now the only sort of shared universe project I'm working on is Dark Universe for Warners, you know, for DC, which is Swamp Thing, Demon, Deadman, Zatanna. It's a very different universe," he said.

"As to the plans to the other one, I wish I had an inside track right now."

It was reported last week that Del Toro had finished the script for Justice League Dark and was presenting it to Warner Bros. over the weekend so maybe this means that the discussions went well and he could be moving forward with the project at some point.

This also is different from the news circling around Sandman with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as that project has been described as being outside of the shared universe and many thought Justice League Dark would do the same thing, but now Del Toro is making it sound like it will be linked with Superman, Batman, and the others.

Del Toro's next film, Crimson Peak, comes out on Oct. 16 and stars Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain. He will go to work on the Pacific Rim sequel afterwards.
