Rebecca Romijn will soon make her debut on TNT’s The Librarians as Eve Baird, an unbending female with the tendency to ask the hard-hitting questions her colleagues won't.

“It’s a fun time in television and movies for female characters who kick butt,” she told reporters during an exclusive conference call moderated by Turner Entertainment. “And I’ve been honored to have gotten to play some of them.”

The former X-Men actress stars as a rigid counter terrorism expert in the upcoming sci-fi adventure. The show – which follows the successful television trilogy – sees the return of Noah Wyle as Flynn, a librarian who is trying to save Earth’s magical treasures. This time around he gets help from Eve and three other librarians – Ezekiel Jones (John Kim), Cassandra Cillian (Lindy Booth) and Jacob Stone (Christian Kane).

Unlike her four partners in crime, Romijn’s character accesses every task with a military approach and finds herself questioning all the supernatural challenges that come their way in the Metropolitan Public Library.

“Everything for her is black and white and she doesn't believe in magic,” the 42-year-old said. “And because she's the skeptic of the group, she sort of gets to be the voice of the audience.”

Romijn’s character will come across a memorable situation during what the actress called her favorite episode of the season. The Christmas-themed challenge will also expose her character’s back story.

“It's sort of a midnight run episode,” she said. “We have to drive Santa Claus back up to the North Pole and [Eve] doesn't believe in Santa Claus and she's not happy about it.”

Yet, while Eve comes off very assertive, Romijn said her character deals with an internal battle throughout the season.

“I don't think that Eve Baird believes that she is equipped for the things that she has to come up against,” she said. “And as the saying goes, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and that's what happens to Eve Baird in this season.”

The Librarians premieres Dec. 7 at 8:00 p.m. EST on TNT.
