In an all-red crop top and pants ensemble, the 32-year-old Queens native performed in her home state of New York with featured singer Skylar Grey on the keys. While rocking a black bang wig, reminiscent of the early days in her career, she rapped her emotional song, which is rumored to be about her longtime relationship with Safaree Samuels.

In it, she raps:

"You was caught up in the rush, and you was caught up in the thrill of it
You was with me way before, I hit a quarter mil' in it
Put you in the crib and you ain't never pay a bill in it
I was killin' it, now you got me poppin' pills in it
I told Baby hit you, I said this n--ga buggin'
Cause I was doing it for us, I told em f--k the public
Couldn't believe that I was home alone, contemplating
Overdosin', no more coastin', no more toastin' over oceans"

According to various rumors, the two were allegedly engaged earlier this year after they both were spotted with matching diamond bands on vacation. But, in November, reports of a violent fight--which ended in Nicki smashing Samuels' Mercedes Benz with a baseball bat-- surfaced. Reportedly, the two have not been seen together since that time.

In a recent interview with Complex, when asked about her new emotional content, she said, "The message-we still love [each other] but we're angry-we feel that way all the time, we just don't say it. And a lot of times you don't even get over that, you just have to keep it moving... I have definitely put off the wife thing because I don't want people in my business."

For now, Nicki is focusing on her budding career and it's working in her favor. Though she may be feeling pain, her appearance on SNL was the second-highest in ratings this season.
