Downton Abbey Season 5 is about to air in the United States where it sounds like it's going to be a memorable year.

Something Gets Taken Away From The Men On 'Downton Abbey'

On Monday, some of the cast members made an appearance on Today where they dished on what's to come in the new episodes. Hugh Bonneville (Robert Crawley) mentioned that this season probably won't be as intense as the death of Matthew, but it's still going to be a big event to look forward to.

"The usual roller coaster," Bonneville said. "You have to bring your hanky for some episodes and be prepared to laugh out loud as well."

Actress Says 'Downton Abbey' Is 'At Its Best'

The actor also pointed out that there isn't really one character in particular who has the juiciest story coming up.

"I think that's the great thing about the show that everyone does," he said. "We all some very intense storylines this year."

Bonneville did bring up Lady Mary though, saying that she is "never out of the news."

Another major plot will revolve around Lady Edith and how she's going to handle having a baby.

"It's another tough season," Laura Carmichael said on her character. "She's got a lot of secrets and she's trying to be a mother in some way to her child."

Downton Abbey Season 5 is set to air in The United States on Sunday, January 4 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.
