The news that Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Doctor Strange has sent the internet into a scramble of where he could first appear before his solo film. But with so many possibilities two options seem to stick out most.

Benedict Cumberbatch Is 'Doctor Strange' & He Could Cameo In This Future Marvel Movie First

Movies.com broke down the possibilities on Monday in order to figure out when our first look at the Sorcerer Supreme will be. The most likely options could be coming in 2017 or later.

The first one included a cameo during Captain America 3 where Steven Strange puts his name into the ring when it comes to the tension between Steve Rogers and Tony Stark on the superhero registration act. This would lead to Strange starting a friendship with Black Panther, who will be key in the plot of this film.

'Captain America 3' Working Title Is Revealed & It Could Hint At The End Of Steve Rogers

According to the site, current comics reveal Strange to be part of a secret cabal of superheroes referred to as the Illuminati. Strange, along with Tony Stark and future major players in the cinematic Marvel universe like Black Panther and the Inhumans' Black Bolt, act as shadow puppeteers attempting to control the shape of their world's constant superhero-supervillain conflicts.

Another possibility is a much more likely shot as Strange shows up in the two-part Avengers: Infinity Wars movie. Cumberbatch is one of the names that Marvel is using to lead the charge of new heroes with Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Robert Downey Jr. probably leaving the brand after that movie.

With the help of Chadwick Boseman, Paul Rudd, and whoever takes on the role of Captain Marvel, these new faces will be the ones at the front of Marvel and that could start as early as the Avengers 3.
