Anderson Cooper's Boyfriend Scandal: Newsman Discovered He Was Cheating While On Vacation Together

Anderson Cooper's love life has created a media firestorm recently: first the newsman confirmed he was gay, then his longtime boyfriend Ben Maisani was photographed kissing another man.

However, the news gets worse for 45-year-old Cooper. A  source tells Life & Style that the television host, nicknamed Silver Fox, was actually on vacation with Maisani when he discovered the cheating scandal and accompanying photos.

"Anderson was with Ben in Croatia when he was told about the photos," the source said. "They were on a yacht. They flew to Croatia on Aug. 11, one day after the photos were taken. Anderson's upset - who wouldn't be?"

The source also confirmed that after three years together, Cooper and Maisani, 39, did not have an open relationship, so Cooper sees this as a major betrayal that hit him hard.

The news is particularly tough on Cooper since he was reportedly considering marrying Maisani as early as Labor Day.

"It's been about a year now [since gay marriage became legal in New York] and he wants to get married to Ben. They're totally committed to one another," a source told the Enquirer before Maisani was caught cheating.

The couple's relationship was an open secret among Hollywood insiders even before Cooper publicly came out of the closet this summer. The pair was known to be affectionate with one another while spending time with famous friends like Kelly Ripa, Sarah Jessica Parker and Bravo's Andy Cohen.
